The Montana Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal investigation continues it’s investigation into the death of two Carter County brothers on October 19th. At the request of Carter County Sheriff Neil Kittelmann, DCI assigned agents to the case on October 19th. Once the investigation is complete, it will be presented to the Carter County Attorney’s Office for review and further action if needed. 39-year-old Travis Carlson died from a gunshot wound at around 5:15 pm Thursday on Tie Creek Road in rural Carter County. DCI and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident as a possible homicide involving Carlson’s twin brother, 39-year-old Eric Carlson. Eric Carlson was found dead in his home the following morning of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Autopsies on both bodies were completed Monday at the State Crime Lab in Billings. Further details may be released as they become available.
