Darrell Hatley, of Miles City, MT, is facing a federal wire fraud charge for allegedly making false reports to his ag and land lender in an attempt to claim over $410,000 fraudulently. Hatley borrowed money from Capitol Farm Credit Union to pay for expenses related to his ranches in Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming and other states.
As part of the loan agreement, Hatley was required to report financial statements annually and cattle reports monthly to the lender. He is believed to have misrepresented the number and quality of cattle he maintained beginning in 2015.
Prosecutors say Hatley’s false statements caused the lender to initiate a wire transfer of $413,537.
