Laurie Haller was named Miss Montana 2018 in Glendive this weekend. The 24 year old was a professional dancer on a cruise line before returning to her home state to claim the crown. While on the cruise-line, Haller danced in over 30 countries.
Haller won a $5000 scholarship and will travel to Atlantic City, New Jersey in September to compete in the Miss America Pageant. The first runner-up was Anigail Helland of Glasgow with Justiss Firemoon of Poplar taking second.
The Miss America event generated a lot of business for Northeastern Montana as competitors descended on Glendive to view the pageant. Pageant officials cited a dramatic increase in local business activity and media attention over the past weekend.
