Last night (Thursday, June 28th) was tense as this most recent system passed through. Miles City experienced flash-flooding and golfball-sized hail and the first of at least two tornadoes was reported at 7:30p.m. in southern Carter County.
A second was observed near Abilon, MT at 7:45 heading east toward the South Dakota border. A possible third was seen at 8:10, but whether it might have been the same tornado is unclear.
There were no reports of damage or injuries as of 11p.m. and Carter County officials had yet to assess the total damage. Last night’s storm was preceded by two consecutive nights of heavy hail in Hettinger and Scranton, North Dakota.
The severe weather continued until 11 p.m. as a large cold front passed over the area.
