A truck driver is accused of holding a trailer he was hired to transport for over a month and for thousands of dollars in ransom.
39 year old Michael Fisher is being charged with a class A felony theft after he refused to disclose the whereabouts of a trailer he was hired to pick up in Arnegard on Dec, 26. Fisher claimed the trailer, containing $75,000 worth of equipment belonging to R&R Oilfield, was being repaired in Bismarck. After it was discovered that the garage Fisher reported to the company did not exist, he demanded more than $4000 for repair and travel expenses before he would tell them its location.
On Jan, 31, Fisher told the company the trailer was in Minot and authorities retrieved it successfully.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. No hearing has been set in the case and as of Friday, Fisher had not been arrested.
