A former Montana lawmaker’s ranch in Ingomar is the subject of a large scale animal abuse and neglect investigation that began in January.
Authorities in Rosebud county were notified that more than 1000 cattle on the L7 Ranch, owned by former state Rep. Don Roberts, were without access to food and water.
Roberts was immediately cooperative with the investigation and replaced the ranch manager at the property. Authorities noted that ranch related animal neglect cases, though rare, do come up periodically.
They are looking at animal cruelty and neglect charges against the ranch manager.
