The former secretary of the Montana High School Rodeo Association has been charged with embezzling nearly $40,000 from the association. Alesia “Lisa” Lappe is charged with one count of theft by embezzlement by common scheme.
Lappe began working for the organization in March 2015 and was fired in December of 2017. Court documents state that she wrote several checks to herself and made several debit charges to an account belonging to the association without their permission.
When confronted with the charges, Lappe told police that she used the money to pay off loans. Court documents show that she told investigators that there were times when she was short on money so she would over-pay herself to buy things for herself or her kids because she has a difficult time saying no to them.
