Luke Gonsioroski, a former quarterback for Baker passed away on August 7th of last year after a second battle with cancer, but Gonzo’s legacy will be improving the lives of students across the country. Operation HOPE is a non-profit based in Texas and they have recently announced the Luke Gonsioroski Character Award.
The award will be given annually to high school seniors who exhibit those qualities that helped Gonsioroski form lasting friendships across the state of Montana.
Dr. John Thomas, the founder of Operation HOPE and Gonsioroski’s family intend to give the first scholarship this summer, worth a minimum of $5,000. To be eligible for the Luke Gonsioroski Character Award, students must be nominated by the athletic director of their school.
